Migadu Email Hosting

Migadu is email hosting from a small, bootstrapped Swiss company. Its main difference from most providers is how it charges. Instead of a fee for each mailbox, you pay one flat price for the account and can create as many mailboxes and addresses as you like across your domains. The limits that matter are daily message counts and storage, measured across the whole account.

That model suits people who run several domains, families who want an address each, and agencies that host email for clients under one roof. Migadu says it is happy for agencies to host third party domains as long as usage stays within the plan.

There are four plans, priced in US dollars. Micro costs $19 a year and allows 200 incoming and 20 outgoing messages a day with 5 GB of storage. Mini is $9 a month or $90 a year, with 1,000 incoming and 100 outgoing messages a day and 30 GB. Standard is $29 a month or $290 a year, with 3,000 incoming, 500 outgoing and 100 GB. Maxi is $99 a month or $990 a year, with 10,000 incoming, 2,000 outgoing, 500 GB and 24x7 priority support. Yearly billing saves at least a month on the paid monthly plans.

There are no hard storage quotas, so mail never bounces because storage is full. Message limits have a tolerance of up to 25 percent over the plan before incoming mail is deferred or outgoing mail is rejected, and you are warned when you approach them.

Support is by email and tickets only, with no phone or chat. Migadu offers a free trial without a card, a 14 day refund window, and discounts for non-profits and students. Payment is by card through Stripe, PayPal prepayment, or Bitcoin on request through support.
