INWX Domain Registration

INWX is a domain registrar based in Berlin that has operated since 2004. Its headline claim is breadth: it offers more than 2,200 domain endings, and says that if an ending can be registered at all, it will try to make it possible. Most registrations run automatically and in real time, including many country code domains that smaller registrars do not carry.

Some country codes are only open to people or companies with a local address. INWX runs a trustee service with local partners for many of these, which lets you hold names you could not register directly. Customers in more than 180 countries use the service.

The domain toolset covers transfers in and out, WHOIS privacy, registry lock for high value names, AuthInfo2 codes for .de domains and dynamic DNS. Alongside domains, INWX sells anycast DNS, SSL certificates, shared hosting and email hosting, so a small business can keep its basics in one account.

For developers and resellers, the DomRobot API is available over XML-RPC and JSON-RPC and is documented method by method. It covers domain checks, registration, renewal, transfers, trades and restores, contact handles, nameserver and record management, DNSSEC keys, certificates, hosting, accounting and invoices. That makes it practical to run a reseller business or automate a large portfolio without using the web interface. INWX also has dedicated solutions for key accounts, resellers and registry account management.

Support is offered by email and by personal phone support, and there is a knowledge base for technical questions. The site is available in German, English and Spanish, and prices can be shown with or without VAT.
